Mahota Team visits American Mill, MTL
When people think of our fabrics, they often believe they are woven tediously by hand looms. However, due to the demand for our merchandise and the importance of incorporating culturally significant circular designs in our motifs, our fabrics are commercially woven!
In August, the Mahota Team traveled to Jessup, PA, home of Material Technology & Logistics (MTL). Founded in 1988, MTL is North America’s most diverse and premier weaver of decorative furnishing products and is where all of our beautiful weaves come to life.
During our visit, we met with the production staff and had the opportunity to tour the mill and observe the construction of our fabrics from beginning to end. the machinery was nothing less than amazing. The facility was filled with equipment larger than the eye and mind could imagine and a must-see in person. Watching the intricate detail of our blankets being woven together thread by thread was nothing short of phenomenal!
Because of the quality of workmanship throughout each department at MTL, we can provide our clientele with the craftsmanship and quality of our American-made tapestries and fabrics.
By definition, a textile is simply a type of cloth or woven fabric. As Americans, we take simple things for granted, such as clothing, blankets, and other textile items, never stopping to think of the arduous process that it takes to make such items. After our visit, that is no longer the case. Quality takes time and is a process - one that is truly appreciated, admired, and enjoyed.
